Soprano, Doreen McFarlane, received a diploma from the University of Toronto
Opera Department and sang for many years with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto.
Her roles included Mimi in La Boheme, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Monica in The Medium.
She has appeared with symphony and pops orchestras, as a solo recitalist
throughout the U .S. and Canada, and on Canada's national television networks. She
created the role of Elizabeth in the world premiere of Charles M. Wilson's opera
Kamouraska and has had songs written for her by Tibor Polgar, conductor of the Budapest
Radio Orchestra.
In addition, she has sung in operetta, musical theater, and in hundreds
of Community Concert programs throughout the nation with her husband Michael.
Together they have also sung in Five Star hotels including the Waldorf Astoria, Greenbriar
in West Virginia, and Boca Raton Hotel and Club, and have traveled the world as
soloists on Five Star cruise ships. She holds a PhD. and is author of three published books.
